Description

This Authentic Swedish Cardamom Cake is a moist, spiced bundt cake infused with warm cardamom flavor, perfect for fika or holiday gatherings. A simple Swedish dessert that brings comfort with every bite.


Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons ground cardamom

1 ½ teaspoons baking powder

½ teaspoon salt

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 ½ cups granulated sugar

3 large eggs

1 cup sour cream

1 teaspoon vanilla extract


Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Butter and flour a bundt pan thoroughly.

2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cardamom, baking powder, and salt.

3. In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3–4 minutes.

4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each. Stir in vanilla extract.

5. Add dry ingredients in three additions, alternating with sour cream. Mix just until combined.

6. Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top.

7. Bake for 45–50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

8. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then invert onto a rack to cool completely.

9. Dust with powdered sugar and slice to serve.

Notes

Use freshly ground cardamom from green pods for best flavor.

Don’t overmix the batter to keep the texture light.

Great to freeze in slices for up to 2 months.
