Description
BBQ pulled chicken on the stovetop is an easy, juicy, and flavorful dinner idea perfect for sandwiches, tacos, and more. Made with chicken breasts, BBQ sauce, and simple pantry ingredients, this quick stovetop recipe is a family favorite for busy weeknights.
Ingredients
2 pounds chicken breasts 1 cup BBQ sauce 1 tablespoon olive oil 1 medium onion diced 2 cloves garlic minced 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar 1 tablespoon brown sugar Salt to taste Pepper to taste
Instructions
1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper. Sear chicken on both sides until golden brown, about 3–4 minutes per side. Remove chicken and set aside. In the same skillet, sauté diced onion until translucent, then add minced garlic and cook until fragrant. Return chicken to the skillet. Pour in BBQ sauce, apple cider vinegar, and brown sugar. Stir to coat chicken evenly. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 25–30 minutes, turning chicken halfway through. Transfer cooked chicken to a cutting board and shred with two forks. Return shredded chicken to skillet and toss in the sauce. Let simmer uncovered for a few more minutes to thicken. Serve hot.
Notes
Use chicken thighs if you prefer a richer flavor. Adjust BBQ sauce to your taste — smoky, spicy, or sweet. Add a splash of water if the sauce gets too thick while simmering.
