Homemade best breakfast sausage made with ground pork, herbs, and maple syrup. This easy breakfast sausage recipe is juicy, flavorful, freezer-friendly, and perfect for meal prep. Great for keto and low-carb diets.
Ingredients
1 lb ground pork
1 tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
1 tsp dried sage
½ tsp dried thyme
¼ tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
1 tbsp maple syrup
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp onion powder
Instructions
1. In a large bowl, mix together salt, pepper, sage, thyme, red pepper flakes, maple syrup, garlic powder, and onion powder.
2. Add ground pork to the seasoning mixture. Combine gently with hands or spoon until spices are evenly distributed.
3. Form the mixture into 10 to 12 equal-sized patties and flatten them slightly.
4. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add oil if needed.
5. Cook sausage patties for 3 to 4 minutes per side, or until browned and internal temp reaches 160°F.
6. Let rest for a minute before serving.
Notes
This recipe makes about 10–12 patties.
Great to freeze raw patties between parchment for quick meals.
For a leaner version, use ground turkey with a bit of oil added.
