Description
This cheesy ground beef & tater tot casserole is a comforting, easy-to-make weeknight dinner packed with crispy tater tots, melted cheddar, and creamy mushroom sauce. Perfect for family meals or potlucks, this tater tot bake is rich, hearty, and totally crave-worthy.
Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
1 bag (32 ounces) frozen tater tots
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of mushroom soup
1 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
2. In a skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess grease.
3. Season beef with salt, pepper, and onion powder.
4. In a large bowl, mix sour cream, cream of mushroom soup, half of the shredded cheese, and cooked beef.
5. Spread the mixture evenly into a 9×13-inch baking dish.
6. Layer frozen tater tots evenly on top.
7. Bake uncovered for 35 minutes.
8. Remove from oven and sprinkle remaining cheese over top.
9. Return to oven and bake an additional 10–15 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
10. Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
This casserole can be assembled ahead of time and baked later.
Use extra-sharp cheddar for a stronger cheese flavor.
Do not thaw the tater tots before baking for best texture.
