Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
0.5 teaspoon salt
0.5 cup Christmas sprinkles
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
2. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
3. Add in the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
5. Gradually add dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
6. Gently fold in the Christmas sprinkles with a spatula.
7. Press the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan and add more sprinkles on top if desired.
8. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until edges are golden and center is set.
9. Let cool completely in the pan before slicing into squares.
10. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
Notes
These bars freeze well for up to 2 months.
Use jimmies instead of nonpareils to avoid color bleeding.
Don’t overbake if you want a softer texture in the center.
