Ingredients
300g flank steak
4 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
1 teaspoon chilli flakes
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon grated ginger
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon ketchup
2 cups cooked white rice
2 green onions, chopped
1/4 cup vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
1. Slice the flank steak thinly against the grain and place in a bowl with 1 tablespoon soy sauce and 1 tablespoon cornstarch. Let it marinate for 10โ15 minutes.
2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the remaining soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, ketchup, minced garlic, grated ginger, and chilli flakes to make the sauce.
3. Coat the marinated beef with the remaining cornstarch, ensuring all pieces are well dusted.
4. Heat the vegetable oil in a wok or frying pan. Fry the beef strips in batches for 2โ3 minutes per side until crispy and golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
5. Remove most of the oil from the pan, then pour in the sauce. Let it bubble and thicken slightly.
6. Return the crispy beef to the pan and toss it in the sauce until fully coated.
7. Serve over hot cooked rice and garnish with chopped green onions. Enjoy immediately.
Notes
Use flank or sirloin steak for best crispiness.
Adjust chilli flakes to your preferred heat level.
To reheat, use a skillet instead of a microwave to keep beef crisp.
