Description

This Deep Hamburger Sausage Pepperoni Bake is the ultimate comfort food casserole, packed with layers of pasta, rich tomato meat sauce, zesty pepperoni, and gooey cheese. A hearty dinner recipe perfect for feeding a crowd, meal prep, or freezing for later. Ideal for busy weeknights or casual get-togethers.

Ingredients

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 pound ground beef

1/2 pound Italian sausage

1 small onion, diced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon tomato paste

1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

12 ounces pasta (penne or rigatoni)

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 cup pepperoni slices

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

2. Cook the pasta in salted boiling water until al dente, then drain and set aside.

3. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and cook until translucent. Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds.

4. Add the ground beef and sausage to the skillet, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook until fully browned and no longer pink.

5. Stir in tomato paste, then add crushed tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.

6. Combine the cooked pasta with the meat sauce. Add half of the mozzarella and a handful of Parmesan. Stir to mix.

7. In a 9×13 inch baking dish, layer half of the pasta mixture, then half of the pepperoni slices. Repeat with remaining pasta and pepperoni.

8. Top with remaining mozzarella, Parmesan, and extra pepperoni if desired.

9. Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes, until bubbly and golden on top.

10. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

This dish freezes well — cool completely and wrap tightly before freezing.

Use turkey or plant-based meat for a lighter version.

Great for make-ahead dinners and potlucks.
