Ingredients
1 lb chicken breast or thigh strips
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 large egg
1 tablespoon soy sauce
2 tablespoons chili garlic sauce
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon vinegar
1 tablespoon sugar
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon grated ginger
1 teaspoon red chili flakes
1 small red bell pepper, sliced
1 small green bell pepper, sliced
2 green onions, chopped
2 tablespoons sesame seeds or cashews
Oil for frying
Instructions
1. In a bowl, mix chicken strips with soy sauce, egg, cornstarch, and all-purpose flour. Marinate for 15–20 minutes.
2. Heat oil in a pan and fry the marinated chicken in batches until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
3. In another pan, heat a little oil and sauté garlic and ginger until fragrant.
4. Add sliced bell peppers and cook for a few minutes until slightly softened.
5. Stir in chili garlic sauce, ketchup, soy sauce, vinegar, sugar, and chili flakes. Let the sauce simmer.
6. Add the fried chicken to the sauce and toss until well coated. Cook for 2–3 more minutes.
7. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds or cashews. Serve hot.
Notes
This dish is best enjoyed fresh, but leftovers can be stored and reheated.
Adjust chili sauce and flakes to taste for more or less spice.
Use thighs for a juicier result, or breasts for a leaner version.
