Made with frozen pierogies, smoky sausage, and a creamy cheese sauce, it’s a crowd-pleasing meal that’s simple to prep and bake. Ideal for family dinners, potlucks, and leftovers. A hearty, creamy, sausage casserole you’ll love.

Ingredients

16 frozen potato and cheese pierogies

14 oz smoked sausage, sliced

1 medium yellow onion, diced

4 oz cream cheese

1 cup sour cream

1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese

2 tablespoons butter

½ teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 375°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

2. In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the sliced sausage and diced onion until browned and fragrant. Set aside.

3. In a small saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Stir in cream cheese, sour cream, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Whisk until smooth and warm.

4. Place half the frozen pierogies in the baking dish. Top with half of the sausage-onion mixture and half of the cheese sauce.

5. Repeat the layers with the remaining pierogies, sausage mix, and sauce.

6. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly on top.

7. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 15 minutes until golden and bubbly.

8. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

This casserole can be made ahead and refrigerated before baking.

Try different pierogi fillings like sauerkraut or onion if desired.

Add a sprinkle of fresh parsley for color and brightness when serving.
