Description

These Eggnog Cinnamon Rolls are soft, fluffy, and filled with warm holiday spices, featuring creamy eggnog in both the dough and glaze. Perfect for Christmas breakfast or festive brunch, this holiday cinnamon roll recipe is packed with nostalgic flavor and comforting sweetness. Includes easy instructions and make-ahead tips.

Ingredients

1 cup eggnog

2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast

¼ cup granulated sugar

¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

1 large egg

3 ½ cups all-purpose flour

½ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg

¾ cup brown sugar

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

¼ cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup powdered sugar

2 tablespoons eggnog

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Warm the eggnog until just lukewarm and pour it into a mixing bowl. Stir in sugar and yeast, letting it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.

2. Add the melted butter, egg, nutmeg, and salt. Stir to combine.

3. Gradually add flour and mix until a soft dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for 6–8 minutes until smooth and elastic.

4. Transfer dough to a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for 1 hour or until doubled.

5. Roll out the dough into a 16×12 inch rectangle. Spread softened butter across the dough, then sprinkle evenly with the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture.

6. Roll the dough tightly from the long edge and slice into 12 equal pieces. Place in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.

7. Cover the rolls and let them rise for another 30–45 minutes, or until puffy.

8. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the rolls for 20–25 minutes until golden on top.

9. While warm, drizzle the eggnog glaze over the rolls and let it melt into the swirls. Serve immediately.

Notes

These rolls can be made ahead and refrigerated overnight before baking.

Use full-fat eggnog for the richest flavor and texture.

To freeze, bake and cool the rolls without glaze, then freeze and glaze after reheating.
