Description
This fan favorite pizza sauce is thick, flavorful, and made from pantry staples. A no-sugar-added pizza sauce recipe that’s perfect for homemade pizzas, calzones, or dipping sticks. Bold tomato flavor, ready in 30 minutes, and freezer-friendly!
Ingredients
2 tablespoons olive oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
1. Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
2. Stir in the tomato paste and cook for 1–2 minutes to deepen the flavor.
3. Add crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, sugar, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Mix thoroughly.
4. Simmer on low, uncovered, for 20–25 minutes, stirring occasionally until sauce thickens.
5. Optional: Use an immersion blender or regular blender for a smooth sauce texture.
6. Let cool before using on pizzas, or store in the fridge or freezer.
Notes
Use San Marzano tomatoes for deeper flavor.
Taste and adjust salt and sugar depending on tomato acidity.
Let the sauce cool completely before storing to prevent condensation.
