Ingredients
2 3/4 cups all purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup unsalted butter softened
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 1/2 teaspoons cotton candy flavoring extract
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons milk
Pink food coloring
Blue food coloring
1/4 cup sprinkles optional
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
2. In a medium bowl whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
3. In a large bowl beat softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
4. Add eggs one at a time mixing well after each addition.
5. Mix in cotton candy flavoring and vanilla extract until combined.
6. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients.
7. Add milk and mix until a soft dough forms. Do not overmix.
8. Divide dough evenly into two bowls. Tint one pink and one blue.
9. Gently swirl portions of pink and blue dough together without fully blending.
10. Scoop dough balls onto prepared baking sheets.
11. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until edges are set and centers remain soft.
12. Cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to wire rack.
Notes
Do not overmix the dough or the cookies may become dense instead of fluffy.
Use gel food coloring for more vibrant pastel shades without thinning the dough.
Store cookies with a slice of bread in the container to maintain softness.
