Description

French Onion Butter Rice is an easy baked side dish made with long grain white rice, French onion soup mix, and buttery beef broth. This flavorful oven rice recipe pairs beautifully with chicken, steak, and more comfort meals. A savory and cozy dish for family dinners or holidays.

Ingredients

1 cup long grain white rice

1 packet French onion soup mix

1 cup beef broth

1 cup water

1/2 cup unsalted butter

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 425°F and lightly grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.

2. In the baking dish, mix together the rice, French onion soup mix, beef broth, and water until evenly combined.

3. Slice the butter into thin pats and arrange them over the top of the mixture.

4. Cover tightly with foil and bake for 30 minutes.

5. Remove foil and bake uncovered for another 30 minutes.

6. Fluff the rice with a fork and serve warm.

Notes

Let the butter melt on top—no need to stir before baking.

Avoid using instant rice; long grain holds texture better.

For extra richness, substitute some of the water with more broth.
