Ingredients
1 pound green beans
8 ounces mushrooms
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Optional: 1 teaspoon lemon zest or juice
Optional: 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Optional: 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
1. Wash and trim the green beans. Clean and slice the mushrooms. Mince the garlic.
2. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Blanch green beans for 2 to 3 minutes. Drain and rinse under cold water.
3. In a skillet over medium-high heat, heat olive oil and 1 tablespoon butter. Add mushrooms and cook until browned, about 5 to 7 minutes. Remove and set aside.
4. In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of butter and minced garlic. Cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
5. Return green beans and mushrooms to the skillet. Toss to combine and season with salt and pepper. Cook for 2 to 3 more minutes until everything is heated through.
6. Optional: Finish with lemon zest, red pepper flakes, or Parmesan before serving.
Notes
Use fresh green beans for the best crunch.
Don’t overcook the garlic—it should be golden, not brown.
