Perfect for weeknights, this hearty meal brings homemade warmth with minimal ingredients and big flavor. Great for family dinners or cold evenings. Keywords: ground beef and dumplings, one-pot beef dinner, comfort food, easy dumpling recipe, beef and gravy.

Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

1 medium onion, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

3 cups beef broth

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup milk

2 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions

1. In a large pot or Dutch oven, cook the ground beef over medium heat, breaking it up as it browns. Drain excess grease if needed.

2. Add chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook for 3-4 minutes until softened.

3. Sprinkle in flour and stir to coat the beef. Cook for 1 minute.

4. Slowly pour in beef broth while stirring, then add Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes until the gravy thickens.

5. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, milk, and melted butter to make the dumpling batter. Stir just until combined.

6. Drop spoonfuls of dumpling batter over the simmering beef. Cover with a lid and reduce heat to low. Cook for 12–15 minutes until dumplings are puffed and cooked through.

7. Serve hot, ensuring each portion has plenty of beef and a dumpling or two.

Notes

This dish can be made with canned biscuit dough for faster prep.

Add herbs like thyme or parsley to the dumpling dough for extra flavor.

A splash of cream in the gravy can make it even more luscious.
