Description

This Hot Chocolate Poke Cake is a rich and cozy chocolate dessert made with pudding, hot cocoa mix, whipped topping, and mini marshmallows. Perfect for winter parties, holidays, or anytime youโ€™re craving a warm chocolate treat. This easy poke cake is moist, creamy, and full of hot cocoa flavor.

Ingredients

1 box chocolate cake mix

3 large eggs

1/2 cup vegetable oil

1 cup water or milk

1 package instant chocolate pudding mix (5.1 oz)

2 cups cold milk

1/4 cup hot cocoa mix

1 tub whipped topping (8 oz)

1 cup mini marshmallows

1/4 cup chocolate shavings or chips (optional)

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven and bake the chocolate cake according to the package instructions using the eggs, oil, and water or milk. Use a 9ร—13 inch pan and allow to cool slightly after baking.

2. While the cake is still warm, use the handle of a wooden spoon to poke holes all over the surface. Make sure the holes go deep.

3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the chocolate pudding mix, cold milk, and hot cocoa mix until smooth and slightly thickened.

4. Pour the pudding mixture evenly over the cake, letting it sink into the holes. Smooth the rest across the top.

5. Chill the cake in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours so the pudding sets properly.

6. Once chilled, spread the whipped topping over the surface of the cake.

7. Garnish with mini marshmallows and chocolate shavings or chips if desired.

8. Slice, serve chilled, and enjoy the rich hot chocolate flavor in every bite.

Notes

This cake is best served chilled but can be slightly warmed for extra coziness.

You can swap in peppermint hot cocoa mix for a holiday twist.

If you want a deeper chocolate flavor, use dark chocolate pudding instead.
