Description
Pumpkin Pie Twists are an easy, cozy fall dessert made with puff pastry and pumpkin puree, perfect for Thanksgiving or any autumn gathering. These flaky twists with a spiced filling are quick to bake, kid-friendly, and ideal for sharing.
Ingredients
1 package puff pastry sheets (2 sheets, thawed)
1/2 cup pumpkin puree
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 egg (for egg wash)
1/2 cup powdered sugar (optional glaze)
1 to 2 tablespoons milk or cream (for glaze, optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
2. On a lightly floured surface, unroll your thawed puff pastry sheets.
3. In a bowl, mix the pumpkin puree, brown sugar, pumpkin pie spice, and vanilla extract until smooth.
4. Spread the mixture evenly over one sheet of puff pastry. Top with the second sheet and press lightly to seal.
5. Slice into 1-inch strips using a sharp knife or pizza cutter. Twist each strip and lay it on the baking sheet.
6. Beat the egg and brush it over each twist.
7. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until golden and puffed.
8. Mix powdered sugar and milk or cream to make a glaze (optional). Drizzle over cooled twists and serve.
Notes
Make sure puff pastry is fully thawed but still cold for best results.
Don’t overload the filling to avoid leaking during baking.
Twists are best enjoyed warm but reheat nicely in a toaster oven.
