Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup heavy cream
3 cups powdered sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
Instructions
1. Melt 1/2 cup butter and the brown sugar in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir constantly until fully dissolved and bubbling.
2. Add the heavy cream slowly while whisking. Let simmer for 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened. Remove from heat and cool completely.
3. In a mixing bowl, beat the remaining 1/2 cup butter on medium-high speed until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes.
4. Slowly pour in the cooled caramel and mix on low to combine.
5. Add powdered sugar gradually, beating well between additions until smooth.
6. Mix in the vanilla extract and sea salt.
7. Beat on medium-high for 2 more minutes until fluffy and ready to use.
Notes
This frosting is best when the caramel is completely cool before mixing.
Use high-quality vanilla for the best flavor balance.
If frosting is too thick, add 1 tablespoon of heavy cream at a time until desired consistency is reached.
