Description

Santa’s Trash Cookie Bars are chewy, sweet and salty holiday dessert bars loaded with chocolate chips, white chocolate, pretzels, candy-coated chocolates, potato chips, and marshmallows for the ultimate Christmas cookie bar treat.


Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

3/4 cup white chocolate chips

1 cup holiday candy-coated chocolates

1 cup mini pretzels, roughly broken

1 cup crushed potato chips

1 cup mini marshmallows


Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.

2. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and creamy.

3. Add the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract until smooth.

4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.

5. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and stir just until a thick cookie dough forms.

6. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, candy-coated chocolates, pretzels, potato chips, and mini marshmallows, reserving a small handful for the top if desired.

7. Press the dough evenly into the prepared pan and sprinkle the reserved mix-ins over the top.

8. Bake for 24 to 28 minutes, until the edges are golden and the center is just set.

9. Cool completely in the pan before slicing into bars.

Notes

These bars slice best after they have fully cooled, so give them time to set before cutting.

For extra holiday color, press a few more candy-coated chocolates on top right after baking.

Store the bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days.
