Ingredients
113g unsalted butter
113g dark chocolate (60–70% cocoa)
100g granulated sugar
2 large eggs
2 egg yolks
30g all-purpose flour
15g cocoa powder
1 tsp vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
Instructions
1. Grease your skull-shaped silicone molds with butter or nonstick spray and place them on a baking sheet.
2. In a heatproof bowl, melt butter and chocolate together over simmering water or in the microwave. Stir until fully smooth.
3. In a separate bowl, whisk eggs, egg yolks, sugar, and vanilla extract until the mixture is light and fluffy.
4. Slowly mix the melted chocolate into the egg mixture, stirring constantly to combine.
5. Fold in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt gently until the batter is smooth and no dry streaks remain.
6. Fill each skull mold about 3/4 of the way full with the batter.
7. Bake in a preheated oven at 425°F (218°C) for 10–12 minutes. Edges should be set, centers soft.
8. Let cool for 2–3 minutes before turning cakes out onto a serving plate. Serve warm.
Notes
Use high-quality dark chocolate for a better lava texture and flavor.
Don’t overbake or the centers won’t be molten—watch closely after the 10-minute mark.
These can be made ahead and refrigerated in the mold. Just bake when ready to serve.
