Ingredients
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
½ cup unsalted butter, softened
¾ cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
¼ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon baking powder
2 tablespoons sparkling sugar (white, green, or mixed)
Instructions
1. Beat butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
2. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
4. Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet ingredients to form the dough.
5. Divide dough in half, wrap each half in plastic wrap, and chill for at least 1 hour.
6. Roll dough to ¼ inch thickness on a floured surface.
7. Cut out tree shapes and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
8. Sprinkle each cookie with sparkling sugar and press gently.
9. Bake at 350°F for 8–10 minutes until edges are just golden.
10. Cool on the pan for 2 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
