Description
Steak Caprese with Balsamic Glaze is the perfect summer dinner idea, combining grilled steak, juicy tomatoes, creamy mozzarella, and a sweet balsamic reduction. This steak caprese recipe is simple, fresh, and full of bold Italian flavors that make it an ideal weeknight or date night meal.
Ingredients
1 lb steak (sirloin, ribeye, or flank)
1 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
1 tbsp olive oil
4 oz fresh mozzarella, sliced
2 ripe tomatoes, sliced
1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
2 tbsp honey
Instructions
1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine balsamic vinegar and honey. Simmer gently, reduce heat, and let it cook until thick and syrupy, about 10โ12 minutes. Stir occasionally.
2. Season the steak on both sides with salt and pepper. Heat olive oil in a cast iron skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat.
3. Sear steak for 3โ5 minutes per side based on thickness and desired doneness. Remove from heat and let it rest for 5โ10 minutes.
4. While steak rests, slice mozzarella and tomatoes. Tear or chiffonade basil leaves.
5. Slice steak against the grain and place on plate or platter.
6. Layer tomato and mozzarella slices over steak, top with basil, and drizzle warm balsamic glaze on top.
Notes
Steak should rest before slicing to keep juices in.
Use high-quality balsamic vinegar for best flavor in the glaze.
Make sure to slice steak against the grain for maximum tenderness.
