This easy strawberry shortcake slice recipe is perfect for spring and summer gatherings, family dinners, or holiday desserts. If you love classic strawberry shortcake, layered desserts, or fresh berry recipes, this simple homemade strawberry shortcake layered slice will quickly become a favorite.

Ingredients

2 cups all purpose flour

1 cup granulated sugar

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter melted

2 large eggs

3/4 cup milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

3 cups fresh strawberries sliced

2 tablespoons granulated sugar for strawberries

1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream

1/4 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.

2. In a large bowl combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until evenly mixed.

3. In another bowl whisk together the melted butter, eggs, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.

4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a smooth batter forms with no dry pockets.

5. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan and smooth the surface.

6. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until the cake is lightly golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

7. Remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool completely in the pan.

8. In a bowl combine the sliced strawberries with 2 tablespoons of sugar and let them sit for about 10 minutes so they release their juices.

9. In a chilled mixing bowl whip the heavy cream and powdered sugar until soft peaks form.

10. Spread a thick layer of whipped cream over the cooled cake.

11. Spoon the strawberries evenly across the whipped cream layer.

12. Chill the dessert for at least 30 minutes before slicing into squares and serving.

Notes

Use ripe strawberries for the best natural sweetness and flavor.

Chill the cake before slicing so the layers stay neat and structured.

For extra flavor you can add a small splash of vanilla to the whipped cream.
