Ingredients
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 ¼ cups granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ teaspoon almond extract (optional)
1 cup unsalted butter (for frosting)
3 cups powdered sugar
2 tablespoons heavy cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)
1 to 2 drops pink or red gel food coloring
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
2. In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla and almond extracts.
4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture.
5. Spread dough evenly into prepared baking dish. Smooth the top with a spatula.
6. Bake for 20–24 minutes or until the edges turn lightly golden. Allow bars to cool completely.
7. While bars cool, prepare frosting by beating butter and powdered sugar until smooth.
8. Add vanilla extract, heavy cream, and food coloring. Beat until frosting is light and fluffy.
9. Spread frosting evenly over cooled cookie bars and decorate with festive sprinkles.
10. Slice into squares or rectangles to serve.
Notes
Let bars cool completely before frosting to avoid melting the buttercream.
Use gel food coloring for vibrant pink tones without thinning the frosting.
For extra flavor, add a dash more almond extract if you love that bakery-style taste.
