Description
Copycat Olive Garden Alfredo Sauce is a rich, creamy homemade Alfredo sauce made with butter, heavy cream, Parmesan, and Romano cheese for that classic restaurant-style flavor. This easy Alfredo sauce recipe is perfect for fettuccine, chicken Alfredo, shrimp pasta, or any comforting Italian dinner at home.
Ingredients
1/2 cup butter
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 1/2 cups heavy cream
1 cup whole milk
1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup freshly grated Romano cheese
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Pinch nutmeg, optional
12 ounces fettuccine, cooked
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
1. Melt the butter in a large skillet or saucepan over low to medium-low heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds to 1 minute until fragrant but not browned.
2. Pour in the heavy cream and whole milk. Stir well and heat gently until the mixture is hot and lightly steaming. Do not let it come to a strong boil.
3. Add the Parmesan cheese and Romano cheese a little at a time, stirring constantly so the cheese melts smoothly into the sauce.
4. Stir in the salt, black pepper, and nutmeg if using. Let the sauce simmer gently for 2 to 3 minutes until it thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon.
5. Add the cooked fettuccine to the sauce and toss until fully coated. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.
Notes
Use freshly grated Parmesan and Romano for the smoothest texture and best flavor.
Keep the heat low once the dairy is in the pan so the sauce stays silky and does not separate.
If the sauce thickens too much, stir in a splash of milk before serving or while reheating leftovers.
