Description

Cute Crescent Roll Carrots are a fun and festive Easter appetizer made with flaky crescent roll dough, creamy cheese filling, cheddar, and fresh herbs. These savory crescent roll carrots are easy to make, perfect for spring parties, brunch tables, and holiday gatherings, and they bring a playful homemade touch to any celebration.

Ingredients

2 cans crescent roll dough

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 tbsp ranch seasoning

2 tbsp chopped green onions

2 tbsp milk

1 egg

orange food coloring

fresh parsley or dill, for garnish

butter or nonstick spray, for greasing molds

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and lightly grease cream horn molds or foil cones with butter or nonstick spray.

2. Unroll the crescent dough and pinch the seams together to form smooth sheets.

3. Cut the dough into thin strips and wrap each strip around a cone mold, starting at the pointed end and overlapping slightly as you go.

4. Whisk the egg with a few drops of orange food coloring and brush it over the wrapped dough.

5. Place the molds on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 9 to 12 minutes, until puffed and lightly golden.

6. Let the pastry cool for a few minutes, then gently slide the shells off the molds and cool completely.

7. In a bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth, then mix in the cheddar cheese, ranch seasoning, green onions, and milk until creamy.

8. Spoon or pipe the filling into the cooled crescent shells.

9. Add a small sprig of parsley or dill to the open end of each one to create the carrot tops.

10. Serve chilled or at cool room temperature.

Notes

These are easiest to fill after the shells are fully cooled so the cream cheese mixture stays thick and smooth.

If you do not have metal molds, tightly wrapped foil cones work well for shaping the dough.

For the best texture, store the filling and shells separately and assemble shortly before serving.
