Description

Flavor-Packed Chicken Pitas are a quick and satisfying dinner made with juicy seasoned chicken, soft pita bread, crisp lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, red onion, and a creamy garlic yogurt sauce. This easy chicken pita recipe is perfect for weeknight meals, simple lunch prep, and fresh family dinners packed with bold flavor.


Ingredients

2 large chicken breasts

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon ground cumin

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon lemon juice

4 pita breads

2 cups chopped romaine lettuce

1 cup diced cucumber

1 cup diced tomatoes

1/2 cup thinly sliced red onion

3/4 cup Greek yogurt

1 clove garlic, minced

1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill or parsley


Instructions

1. In a medium bowl, coat the chicken breasts with olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, cumin, oregano, salt, black pepper, and lemon juice. Rub the seasoning in well and let the chicken sit for 15 minutes if time allows.

2. Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the chicken for 5 to 7 minutes per side, or until fully cooked and golden on the outside. Transfer to a plate and let it rest for 5 minutes.

3. In a small bowl, stir together the Greek yogurt, minced garlic, and chopped dill or parsley until smooth.

4. Chop the romaine, dice the cucumber and tomatoes, and thinly slice the red onion.

5. Warm the pita breads in a dry skillet, microwave, or low oven until soft and easy to open.

6. Slice the cooked chicken into strips.

7. Fill each pita with chicken, romaine, cucumber, tomatoes, and red onion.

8. Spoon the creamy garlic yogurt sauce over the filling and serve immediately.

Notes

For extra flavor, let the seasoned chicken rest a little longer before cooking.

Store the chicken, vegetables, pita, and sauce separately so everything stays fresh.

Add a pinch of chili flakes or a drizzle of hot sauce if you want a spicier pita.
