Description
Fried Green Beans are a crispy, golden appetizer made with fresh green beans, seasoned breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, and a light crunchy coating that fries up beautifully for an easy snack, party appetizer, or savory side dish.
Ingredients
1 pound fresh green beans
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 large eggs
1 tablespoon water
1 cup breadcrumbs
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
1. Wash the green beans, trim the ends, and pat them completely dry with paper towels.
2. Place the flour in one shallow bowl.
3. In a second bowl, whisk together the eggs and water until smooth.
4. In a third bowl, mix the breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
5. Dredge the green beans in the flour and shake off the excess.
6. Dip the floured green beans into the egg mixture.
7. Coat them well in the breadcrumb mixture and place them on a tray.
8. Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or heavy pot to 350°F.
9. Fry the green beans in small batches for 2 to 3 minutes, turning as needed, until golden brown and crisp.
10. Transfer them to a paper towel lined plate or wire rack.
11. Serve immediately with ranch, marinara, spicy mayo, or your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
Make sure the green beans are very dry before breading so the coating sticks better.
Fry in small batches so the oil temperature stays steady and the beans turn crisp instead of greasy.
For the best texture, reheat leftovers in the oven or air fryer rather than the microwave.
