Ingredients
2 large boneless skinless chicken breasts
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1 tablespoon olive oil
3 tablespoons butter
1 small onion, finely diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups chicken broth
1/2 cup milk
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
1. Pat the chicken dry and season both sides with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
3. Add the chicken and cook for 4 to 5 minutes per side until golden and mostly cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
4. In the same skillet, melt the butter.
5. Add the diced onion and cook for 3 to 4 minutes until softened.
6. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
7. Sprinkle in the flour and stir well for 1 to 2 minutes to form a roux.
8. Slowly whisk in the chicken broth until smooth.
9. Pour in the milk and continue whisking until the gravy thickens.
10. Return the chicken to the skillet and spoon the gravy over the top.
11. Cover and simmer for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked and tender.
12. Sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve hot.
Notes
For extra flavor, use chicken thighs instead of chicken breasts if you prefer juicier meat.
If the gravy gets too thick, stir in a small splash of broth or milk until it reaches the texture you like.
